Ok, not to off topic, but what I am trying to say is MLM (As the
wiki link, also known as "direct sales") is very close to illegal
pyramid (Ponzi) scheme. Such schemes works by:
A is the head of the scheme. He / She asks a person or 2 to
invest money. So B invested in A. However, for B to earn back
invested money, B have to recommend it to his / her friend. Some
might just strictly 2, while others may say as many as possible. So
B introduced C and D to it and for C and D to get their earnings,
they have to recommend more people into it and C introduce E and F
while D introduce G and H into it etc. (There are varients to it,
but it works similar, it wont always be investing but maybe buying
some overpriced items). Essentially, what happens is, B's earning
is based on C and D's capital and so on and of course, A takes part
of it.
Well, just think again, how can this sustain in a long run? And
how can a development team can have unlimited amount of developers
on a project. It just does not collaborate well.
However, being a beta tester is still possible, I believe as
many beta testers as possible is a good idea for them to spot
problems.
